Because the bearing supplier shell and the cross shaft are sealed with double-sided frame oil seals, this mechanical seal is relatively tight, which can ensure that external water and dust will not enter the bearing shell, and the grease in the bearing shell will not overflow, ensuring the cross shaft And bearing lubrication system.

The amount of grease that can be stored in the gap in the bearing shell is not much, and it can be filled up in a few seconds with an ordinary pneumatic high-pressure grease gun. Due to the tightness of the skeleton seal, the grease injected into the bearing will not overflow. So far, the bearing filling in one direction has been completed.

In addition, you need to pay attention when assembling the cross shaft universal joint:

  1. After the parts are washed and dried in clean wash oil, check again the journals, bearings, oil seals, and thrust washers of the cross shaft. Some cars do not have the parts such as the washers and there should be no defects.
  2. When installing the cross shaft into the universal joint fork, make sure that the side with the grease nipple on the cross shaft faces the drive shaft so that grease can be added during maintenance.
  3. If there is a thrust washer, the washer should be placed between the inner end surface of the bearing seat and the end surface of the cross shaft head. After the bearing cap fastening bolts are tightened, the universal joint fork should be able to rotate freely on the cross shaft. The jam phenomenon does not allow the universal joint cross to have the feeling of axial clearance. If there is an axial gap, a thrust washer of appropriate thickness can be installed on the two symmetrical journal end faces, or a thicker thrust washer can be used, but the thickness of the gaskets on both sides should be equal to maintain the drive shaft balance.
